Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Pastor says Holy Spirit moved someone to do palm reading. Heresy?

I went to a new church today (First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ). The pastor used an illustration in his sermon about some people in a concentration camp who were in line ready to be killed. A man jumped out who was a reporter and went to the line and started reading palms. He told each of them that they had a long life line and were going to have x number of kids. The people became joyous and that made the guards decide to not execute them. The pastor then said “It had to have been the Holy Spirit that moved this man to go and start reading palms”. Now as far as I know, isn’t palm reading pagan? The Holy Spirit would not “move” a man to do something that is pagan, right? Should I ask the pastor about this or go to a different church and not look back?

you might want to check your pastor’s credentials. I have the feeling he has no religious training whatsoever. because he is a liar and just trying to et more money in the plate

What about the demons? Are they not powerful? Deceptive? Is not Satan the Father of all lies. They too have supernatural power and exercise it on those to believe a lie such as your Pastor I’m sorry to say.

God warns against such behavior as medians, the practice of witchcraft, etc.

Leviticus 20:6 “If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.

Leviticus 19:31 “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

You need to go to the old testament and read Jonah. That’s all I am saying.

Deciples of Christ will have nothing to do with palm reading, it is forbidden in the Bible.

I would ask him about why he feels this way, or speak to another pastor about it…. because palm-reading is a sin. Maybe the man wasn’t a Christian but God turned something bad into something positive? I don’t know… I don’t believe God would move anyone to sin.

God bless our prophet dear;
May health and comfort cheer
His noble heart.
His words with fire impress
On souls that thou wilt bless
To choose in righteousness
The better part.
2. So shall thy kingdom spread,
As by thy prophets said,
From sea to sea.
Truth burns in ev’ry soul;
As one united whole,
We hasten to the goal
We long to see.

3. Oh, may thy Saints be one,
Like Father and the Son,
Nor disagree.
United heart and hand,
So may we ever stand,
A firm and valiant band

Sounds like you need to go to a different church and not look back. I’m conservative Lutheran, and I like the Calvary Chapel churches, the Baptist ones, and the Lutheran ones as long as they aren’t the liberal ELCA ones. The bigger churches can have more going on — things to get involved with, and ways to mentor and be mentored. If you aren’t yet a baptized born again Christian, then ask your next pastor to help you do that soon.
Ways to stay connected to God’s path include loving God and Jesus Christ, obeying God’s ways, daily Bible reading, daily prayer for yourself and others, getting to church, having your church prayer group and/or pastor pray for you, fasting with prayer for a higher level of prayer, getting with other Christians and doing a Bible study, singing hymns to God, taking communion with the church, helping and loving others, expressing your gratitude to God for His help in your life by telling others of your progress and helping them draw closer to God too, tithing at church, volunteering at church. Continue to turn from sins and seek God’s forgiveness in your life as you live your daily life.
God guide your life.

If the pastor say that,yo will need to find a better church as soon as possible.Because if the pastor read the Bible,he will find that reading palms, is 100% wrong before God.The Bible teach us, in the different books Bible have Example : Deuteronomy 18:9-14,Acts 19:18-20,Revelation 22:14-17.Good question. Before you move to other church, ask the pastor if he
believe in reading palms.if he say yes, then you have to find a better church.Good luck, and God Bless you.

Answer by Pastor Sharon
God the Holy Spirit would never move anyone to do palm reading. That has nothing to do with God and everything to do with satan.

Ask God to lead you to a fellowship that worships Him in spirit and truth.

✰✪✰ In 2010, I predicted the exact date of the August 23, 2011 – Mineral, Virginia 5.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the entire East Coast of the United States and up through Canada creating more than $300 million dollars in damage.
I had also seen a fantastic amount of water, coming in shortly thereafter. I therefore notified the appropriate government authorities to warn them.
17 Hours after the quake, Hurricane Irene made landfall less than 300 miles from the epicenter of the Earthquake.
Damage estimates from this hurricane, throughout the United States were near $19.6 billion dollars, which made it the 5th costliness hurricane in United States history
The coastlines were evacuated and lives were saved because of this prediction and appropriate warnings.
