Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : What does the bible say about people fooling around with witchcraft?

Tomorrow at school we are having a sort of a carnival & there is going to be palm reading & tarot card readings. I’m just wondering if this counts as witchcraft & what the bible says about this type of things. The reason i’m asking is because my school is kind of religious & most claim to be so godly…

Answer by Rachel Greenbaum
Oh it’s totally fine, the Old Testament has some injunctions against casting spells, but for the carnival you’ll be okay. Just have fun!

Don’t worry about what the bible says about anything… One book talking about magic being bad while filling its pages with stories about god and his magic… Blah bah blah…

It makes as much sense as the Anti-Choice Retards saying the bible claims Abortion is Bad when it has all sorts of stories and orders to slaughter unborn and born children.

♥ God’s OK On Abortion
“And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.” (Numbers 5:27-28)

Comment: This nonsensical ritual, prescribed by God, to a woman suspected of infidelity, must undergo the drinking of a vile concoction made of bitter water and dust from the floor of a tabernacle. A priest calls a curse upon the woman’s head to insure that if she has acted in adultery the drinking of the liquid will cause her to have a miscarriage. If she comes out clean, then she shall conceive.

Regardless of how ridiculous this procedure seems, any person who believes every word of the Bible must come to terms with the realization that the quoted God here sometimes authorizes abortion.

♥ Happy To Kill Children
“Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.” (Psalms 137:9, KJV)

“How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones Against the rock.” (Psalms 137:9, New American Bible)

“Happy the man who shall seize and smash your little ones against the rock!” (Psalms 137:9, New American Bible)

“a blessing on anyone who seizes your babies and shatters them against a rock!” (Psalms 137:9, Jerusalem Bible)

Comment: Ask a Christian friend whether he or she should feel happy to dash a child against the rocks. Your friend will most likely stare at you in horror, much less believe this idea exists in their sacred Bible.

Many Churches have found this verse quite embarrassing. It gives no wonder why priests, Jews, and Christians alike, who quote from Psalms 137, always leave out this last verse.

Palmistry and tarot cards are divination, not witchcraft. There’s no conjuring or spells or magic. Granted, I don’t put any weight in any of it, but at least know the difference between these things. I’d recommend against looking for reasons to be offended and just let people enjoy themselves; it’s a carnival, not a stoning.

Start with reading this book that says ‘You have more than enough advisers, astrologers, and stargazers. Let them stand up and save you from what the future holds. But they are as useless as dried grass burning in a fire. They cannot even save themselves!” Bible-Isaiah Chapter 47 verses 13-14
Your Father in Heaven offered and is willing to accept Jesus’ sufferings for the punishment your sins deserve; you would be very foolish to refuse, even if a sacrifice like that doesn’t seem to “make sense.”! No one’s sins deserve mercy – sins against God’s infinite love justly deserve unending punishment – as offences again the Eternal Creator! No amount of suffering or “goodness” you could ever offer could possibly pay for your sins.
Confess your sins to Jesus – the only one, as God the Son, who could ever make a BIG ENOUGH sacrifice for your sins. Ask His forgiveness for making Jesus’ sufferings necessary. Turn from them proving your repentance is real trust Jesus took the punishment your sins deserved, on His cross. Trust Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment your sins deserved. That is the Father’s only way you can have eternal life.
Otherwise, there will be no mercy on Judgment Day. It will be too late for you. All the mercy your sins require was already provided on Jesus’ cross. That is the only payment for your sins that God the Father will accept!

Palm and Tarot readings are a form of divination, not witchcraft. Most people consider both types of readings to be sheer entertainment. I’m sure that’s why they have been included in your school “carnival” and I sincerely doubt that any “real” witches or psychics have been invited to participate. Nothing the bible prohibits is “going down” on your school’s property tomorrow unless you think a little make-believe dress-up and play acting is against church rules. Just keep your eyes peeled for any pointy tails and horns and try to have fun instead of being the proverbial wet-blanket 🙂

There are several Hebrew and Greek words which condemn the practice of witchcraft. In the Bible we find the words “witchcraft, divination, enchantments, mediums, spiritists, sorcery.” All of these practices are condemned in the strongest terms.

Deut 18:10
“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer”

Deut 18:14
“For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.”

2 Kings 17:17
“Then they made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and practiced divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him.”

2 Kings 21:6
“He made his son pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and used divination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD provoking Him to anger.”

2 Chron 33:6
“He made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.”

Nahum 3:4
“All because of the many harlotries of the harlot, The charming one, the mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations by her harlotries and families by her sorceries.

Acts 8:9
“Now there was a man named Simon, who formerly was practicing magic in the city and astonishing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great;”

And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

Ga 5:20* idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,

Re 18:23* and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery..

The Scriptures condemn all sorcery as opposed to a proper sense of dependence upon God. In Galatians 5:20 witchcraft is listed as being one of the acts of the sinful nature. The book of Revelation contains several passages that condemn sorcery in the strongest terms (9:21; 18:23; 21:8; 22:15).

The Bible teaches that only God has the right to understand the realm of the supernatural (Gen. 40:8), and that intrusion into the realm of the occult makes one worthy of death (Ex. 22:18)(Also see Leviticus 19:31; 2 Kings 21:6; 23:24; 1 Chron. 10:13-14; Isaiah 8:19; 19:3).

It is interesting that several of the Greek words translated “witchcraft” and “sorcery” have the root pharm, from which our words “pharmacy” and “pharmaceuticals” are derived. This root (pharm) refers to “drugs, potions, and poisons.” Those who are familiar with the practice of sorcery both among primitive tribespeople and “sophisticated” Westerners have noted that the drugs are often used to induce altered states of consciousness which, in turn, are claimed to bring increased knowledge, sensitivity, or even contact with spirits or “entities.”(1)

Btw, palm reading was originally to find out the condition of health in your body, not to tell the future, it can’t really do that.

I was born with my innate gifts of clairvoyance (see things), clairaudient (hear things), clairsentient (know things). By the time I was 3 I knew there were things that I knew that I could not tell anyone about because they got really weird if I did. At 13 I got my first deck of tarot cards (Ryder – Waite) and started doing readings professionally.

At 16 I had my first near death experience when I was in a pick-up truck that hit a semi-tractor trailer truck. My dad had died several years earlier – and he had been a semi-truck driver. I was fortunate enough to receive my Father as a Spirit Guide that day, My second NDE was when I was 18 – I was in a Piper Cub 2 seater aircraft that did a hard landing into the side of a mountain. I have spent my entire life studying and working with the wyrd and wonderful in all its guises. While not required by any means I enjoy using the Tarot or any of the other divination tools I have at hand you may want to use for your reading.

I have Doctorate Degrees in Divinity (D.Div) and Theology (Th.D.) from Northern Lights Seminary and continue to study. Among some of my other titles are Psychic Minister, Esoteric Minister, High Priestess, Shaman, Spiritual Coach, Psychic Coach, Psychic Healer, Life Coach, Relationship Coach, Small Business Consultant, Paralegal, Executive Director and College student. I am honored to be a “reader’s reader,” meaning that many of the people do readings for are readers or spiritual workers themselves.
