Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : What is one of the most controversial rules in table tennis and why?

Thanks in advance.

Answer by Beanman123
It seems to be the table tennis serve…

“Service shall start with the ball resting freely on the open palm of the server’s stationary free hand”.

The purpose of this rule is to prevent a player from imparting spin onto the ball (with his fingers or his hand) as he throws it up.

This rule was introduced after the 1930s when finger spin serves were very popular. Players were able to impart heavy spin onto the ball before they struck it with their racket.

Throwing the ball upward

“The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16cm (approx 6 inches) after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck”.

The purpose of this rule is to ensure that the server strikes the ball as it’s falling from the vertical.

Before adding this requirement for the ball to rise by at least 16cm, it was difficult for the umpire to establish whether the ball was being struck on the way up or on the way down.

Once the ball has been thrown upwards, the official table tennis rules specify how you must …

Strike the ball

“As the ball is falling the server shall strike it so that it touches first his court and then, after passing over or around the net assembly, touches directly the receiver’s court; in doubles, the ball shall touch successively the right half court of server and receiver”.

The purpose of this rule is to ensure that the server can’t serve overarm like in tennis. This would potentially make every serve unreturnable!

This rule ensures that the ball must be struck as it’s falling and that your service must hit your side of the table first.

Once your service has hit your side of the table it must pass over or around the net and then hit your opponent’s side of the table.

The ball must bounce at least once on your opponent’s side of the table and you can serve from and to, any part of the table.

Whilst serving, the official table tennis rules also say that you must keep the ball …

Above the playing surface

“From the start of service until it is struck, the ball shall be above the level of the playing surface and behind the server’s end line, and it shall not be hidden from the receiver by the server or his doubles partner or by anything they wear or carry”.

This means that your hand and the ball must both be above the level of the playing surface and behind the end line, during your entire service action.

No hiding

“As soon as the ball has been projected, the server’s free arm shall be removed from the space between the ball and the net”.

The main purpose of the rule is to make sure that both the receiver (and the umpire) can see the ball throughout the service action.

This means that the receiver will be able to see the racket as it strikes the ball and therefore the receiver will have a much better chance of reading the spin, and, therefore, returning the service.

Take responsibility

“It is the responsibility of the player to serve so that the umpire or the assistant umpire can see that he complies with the requirements of the law, and either may decide that a service is incorrect.”

Warnings and penalties

“If either the umpire or the assistant umpire is not sure about the legality of a service he may, on the first occasion in a match, interrupt play and warn the server; but any subsequent service by that player or his doubles partner which is not clearly legal shall be considered incorrect.”

This means that an umpire who suspects, but isn’t sure, that your service action is illegal, may warn you without awarding a point to your opponent.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : How do i pull the foreskin on penis back over the head?

Alright so… My foreskin is able to be pulled back behind the head. However, I’m not sure if it is normal, but I can’t pull it back up because the head is just a little bit too big for the foreskin to pull up. 1) Is this a stretching problem?
2) How do I fix this?
3) is this normal?
4) is it supposed to glide ocer the head easily?
5) How far should I pull it back?
Please help here. Thanks in advance

Answer by DGAF
your skin is just a little tight

just practice pulling it up and down while masturbating in the shower everyday and it will eventually will loosen up and it should pull back to show the head

Answer by James
Easily fixed. Gently squeeze the head of your penis to push the trapped blood back into the shaft. This will make the head small enough that it can slip back into your foreskin where it belongs most of the time.

You’re perfectly normal. Lots of boys go through this stage if they get started a little late on stretching the opening of their foreskin. Continued erections and masturbation will gradually train your foreskin to open wide enough that your glans (the head) can easily emerge and then go back without getting stuck. You can get through this stage a little faster by gently stretching your foreskin opening to train it – a good time to do this is during your bath or shower. Remember to do it GENTLY. Be patient, and don’t stretch so far that it hurts.

1) Yes, this is a stretching matter,…not a problem. I have posted some links to some foreskin stretching information below. Read up on the link from Father Magazine as it details what to do if the foreskin becomes trapped behind the rim of the glans. James gave a pretty good response on that matter,….the glans is like a sponge that swells up with blood. Compress the glans gently but firmly between the palms of your hands for about a minute to force the blood out. The glans will shrink a bit and enable you to quickly roll the skin of the rim (Coronal Ridge) of the glans.
2) If you can get it back there already, then you are 95% done stretching. You just need to keep at it a bit longer. One stretch not mentioned in those links is to insert the little finger of each hand into the skin opening and stretch outward. Stretch top to bottom, side to side and angleways…..make sure you stretch all around the circumference of the skin opening.
There is a band of muscle (google Frenar Band) that closes down the skin opening. It is this muscle that you want to stretch enough so the skin glides effortlessly back and forth over the glans.
3) Yes,….it is very normal for every intact man in his youth.
4) As in #2 above
5) The skin should retract all the way back behind the rim of the glans. You should be able to see the entire glans. If the frenulum on the underside of the glans is tight,…it too will respond to retraction stretches.
Do not listen to anyone who claims you need to force the skin back to clean under there. Nature has this well in hand. The foreskin/glans combination produce a powerful anti microbial compound called Langerin. Langerin wards off bacteria and keeps this area clean and disease free…..just like you are now.
Go to: www.norm.org and read about the reason and function of the foreskin. You will see how very fortunate you are to still have yours, and how misguided are those who promote circumcision for any reason.
Good luck and I hope this helped.
